We’re almost a full month into 2019 – how are you doing with your New Year’s Resolutions? Many New Year’s Resolutions are given up around the sixth week of the year, and with that date just a few weeks away, our team is here to give you their best tips for sticking to your resolutions.
Start Small
If you’ve never set New Year’s Resolutions before or tend to give them up before January ends, opt for smaller goals this year! Once you’ve achieved some of your smaller goals, incorporate one or two larger (or long-term!) goals into the mix.
Be Reasonable
When you’re making your New Year’s Resolutions, even if they’re larger goals, be reasonable about them. Come up with a plan for achieving each goal and if there’s one or two that might be more difficult to achieve, complete them next year! Work on creating the foundation in 2019 and go from there. If you’re trying to balance your resolutions, we suggest setting one to two large goals and a small number of smaller ones such as eating more vegetables, calling your family more often, and/or going to bed earlier!
Talk About Your Goals
Those who share their goals and resolutions with their friends and family members tend to be more successful with their New Year’s Resolutions. If you don’t want to share your resolutions with anyone but still want to be held accountable, write down your resolutions on a piece of paper and place them somewhere you will be able to see them every day. Whether it’s your mirror, the refrigerator door, or your makeup bag –seeing them on a daily basis will help!
Practice Saying ‘No’
Are you giving up something as your New Year’s Resolution but know you might be around it in a public setting? Practice saying no! Tell your friends why you’re doing it, and have them hold you accountable!
